Call for Volunteers and Work Exchange for Primal Erotic Party
Every party needs volunteers. Here are the basic jobs we need for Primal. Each is about a one hour shift during the party, or about 90 minutes before or after.
Being a volunteer is a good way to meet people, develop a solid reputation, and earn eternal gratitude.
It also earns you free admission to that night's party.
You will still need to be on the Primal membership list, and RSVP.
Some slots fill up very quickly, so it's best to apply early and/or be flexible.
Volunteer jobs:
- Door Greeters. Five shifts starting hourly 8-12.
- Front desk / Cashier. Prefer people who are experienced or who have passed the cashier training program. Five shifts starting hourly 8-12. Possible extra shift during peak load early in party.
- Monitors. Requires good social skills, mobility, and some past experience of similar parties. Enforce the rules while promoting good energy. Requires walking around party continuously and climbing stairs several times. Prefer people who've attended Primal before. Multiple hour-long shifts starting on the hour and half hour (8, 8:30 ..., 12).
- Setup. Requires moving furniture and climbing ladders. Work starts at 6:30 pm.
- Cleanup. Requires vacuuming, moving furniture, etc. Work starts at 1 am, when party ends. Night owls appreciated.
- Food prep. Requires kitchen time preparing hot and cold snacks, and keeping the buffet stocked and orderly. There are very few of these positions.
Note that setup and cleanup allow you to be free the whole party, while the other duties give you more interactions with other attendees during the party. You benefit either way.
Work exchange can also be earned by:
- Mattress storage. If you can provide a dry corner of a garage in SF to store a 5' x 7' stack of mattresses.
- Mattress moving. If you have a truck/van and can move mattresses from storage before the party and return them afterwards.
- Performing. If you have skills as a performer, e.g. circus, music, etc, we'd like to hear from you.
To volunteer, email EduKink at yahoo dot com, as follows. (Send the email, even if you've written in tribe or evite messages, even if you've talked with us by other means. Tracking volunteers by email is much more reliable.)
- Subject line should begin "Primal volunteer". Otherwise, the spam filter may hide/delete your message.
The body should include:
- Which positions you're qualified for and prepared to do;
- Any constraints or limitations (of duties or timeshift);
- If you've volunteered for us before;
- What relevant experience you've had, at this venue or related parties (which events, which jobs);
- Any formal qualifications you may have (SFC cashier training, DMA, party monitor, EMT, food handler, etc.);
- The URL of your tribe (or other social network) profile (if any), or home page (if any);
- Whether work-exchange is important to your ability to attend the event.
We always confirm these email messages, within 48 hours, if we're within 2 weeks of the event. If you don't see it, first check your spam/bulk folder, then try again. You might want to put our address in your address book, so our replies don't go to your spam.
So the whole volunteer process is as follows:
- You email us your volunteer information as above.
- You add us to your address book.
- We reply with a proposed workshift assignment. (Before that we might reply with an acknowledgment.)
- You email us an acceptance of the workshift, so we know the email reached you.
- We email you detailed instructions for your assignment.
- You show up in advance of your shift, and check in when you arrive, i.e. have the door person mark the volunteer sheet that you've arrived.
- You do the shift.
- We give you eternal gratitude, and include you in our future volunteers list.
Before volunteering, we recommend you read about the party, i.e. all of edukink.org/Primal,
and apply to join the Primal mailing lists.
All volunteers must also be on the membership list and the RSVP list.
Note that volunteering, then flaking, earns you very bad karma. Reputations get around - party hosts share their flakes lists.
