smOdyssey presents "Rituals of Refinement"
~ a special workshop prepared by EduKink
Note: Daylight Savings time begins this morning -- Spring Forward! (or you'll be an hour late)
From earliest history, the human race has used the ritual surrounding the "breaking of bread" as a means of establishing trust and creating a communal bond. Table manners helped turn us from barbarians into civilized people. Over the course of time, the rites of serving a meal have become an art form of their own.
A formal dinner is fertile ground for power exchange, rich with disciplines and strict protocols. But for many people, the image of a table set for a formal dinner can be unnerving. What are you supposed to do with all those utensils and plates? What is the proper way to serve at a formal table?
In this four-hour workshop, we will literally walk you through the entire process of a formal dinner - from setting the table, to serving and eating the various courses - sharing our favorite opportunities for perversion along the way.
For those in service, we help define and organize the process for planning, creating and serving a meal that will make your dominant or owner proud.
For those being served, we show the lay of the table, so to speak, to help you approach the formal dinner setting with an air of confidence and to help you gain a better appreciation of the service you are receiving.
As Mae West said,
"It's not what I share but the way that I share it -
That's all, brother, that's all."
